Becoming a fan of a writer

When you click on a link and clap in Medium, you have become a FAN of that writer. One clap or 50, it makes no difference.

You can only be a FAN of that writer once.

At the same time, you have then become a fan of that one story. You can only be a fan of a story ONCE. Regardless of how many claps you give it.

If you take no action on that story:

• no claps
• no comments
• no highlights
• no responses

then you have simply registered as a viewer — so, not a fan of the story, but still a fan of the writer.

Being a fan of multiple stories, by the same writer.

When the same writer shares a new story, you can become a FAN of the new story. Once. Simply by clicking on it.
