My Fifteen Minutes Of Fame — On TV and Radio Around The World

Shakespeare said “Misery acquaints man with strange bedfellows” — but he had nothing on what politics brings to your door.

Being interviewed by radio stations around the world

I hadn’t heard this recording before. It’s one of probably a dozen I did.

It’s a recording of my interview on Radio NZ about the quality of election policy, or the lack thereof, when I had some press about using Twitter to comment on the Election at the time of Gillard/Tony Abbott.

Way back in 2010. It’s amazing what you find when you do a Google search.

Here’s something for the new website or blog. This will be great for the media section. It’s just click to play

After appearing on the Kerri-Anne Kennerly TV show — live and broadcast nationally — two things happened.

Getty Images panicked because they didn’t have a file photo of this new sensational political commentator. They sent a photographer to get one. He supplied one to me.

I started seeing my image in international newspapers as the iconic image of the tech savvy grandmother who tweets.

The other was that I was subjected to six months of intensive bullying on Twitter by a bunch of people who dubbed themselves #PTUB — Perth Twitter Underground Brigade. The least said about them the better.

I can personally attest to the pain and distress that cyberbullying creates — and before the year was out, they had turned on one of their own.

I don’t intend to name names, but the shame of their activities should ring in their ears to this day. Colluding and hiding behind fake names on Twitter, they were horrified when I dared to turn up at a Sunday Session in a Vic Park pub. One playing his guitar and the others were his “groupies”.

I did not break. Thankfully, I had strong friends who supported me. Had I been a 15yo schoolgirl, I dread to think of the outcome for me and my family.
